lodge cast iron GIVEAWAY
[CLOSED]
It's my 500th post and time to celebrate!!
I've gotten into the habit of giving away things that I don't have, but want, so here we go again today! Three big winners of this giveaway will receive this super cool Lodge Cast Iron dutch oven / skillet combo set! You can use the bottom as a stock pot or in the oven as a dutch oven and the lid doubles as a skillet! How cool is that?!
If you've never cooked with cast iron, it will really help you take your cooking to the next level. Because it's super thick and heavy, it heats evenly and can get really hot, which will help with browning and charring.
What else can you do with this awesome piece of cookery? You can bake no-knead bread in there to get an extra crispy crust! You could probably use the skillet part in the oven to make deep dish pizzas too. The thick iron works very similarly to a pizza stone.
So, the question you have to answer to enter the giveaway is...
I may have asked this question before, but it always gets fun answers and there are a lot of new people around these days :)

Is ice cream a food? I sound like a 6-year-old, but ice cream has to be one of my favourite foods of all time! Morning, noon, and night. I also make a wicked caesar salad dressing that comes in close second.

Lemons! Lovely, organic, puckery lemons. They're part of so many dishes I make, and are great stand-alone snacks - they contain unique flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, and are rich in Vitamin C. Plus this versatile fruit has so many uses beyond cooking. Pucker Power!

Without a doubt, potatoes. They tick all the boxes... flavour, texture, nutritional value, versatility. I recently remarked that I don't think I'd ever feel poor as long as I had the supplies on hand to make hash browns.

Eggs. There are just so many things you can make with the humble egg. Deviled eggs, egg salad, scrambled, omelettes, hard-boiled, soft-boiled, baked, and my favorite the fritatta. You could write an entire cookbook on fritattas alone. And don't forget pancakes, french toast, popovers, mayonnaise and hollandaise. And souffles. I sound like Bubba from Forest Gump, but, hey, eggs are simply amazing.

Definitely ice cream/frozen yogurt. My dad had an ice cream shop when I was a kid, and I'm pretty much convinced they put milkshakes in my bottles when I was a baby. There are endless flavors to choose from, and cold ice cream on top of a warm brownie or piece of cake is pretty much the most amazing thing that can ever go in your mouth.
Thanks for the great blog, by the way. My wife and I are huge fans!

Milk, definitely! It's key for cheese, yogurt, and ice cream, and I'd hate to have to go without any of those.

BREAD. I *love* carbs, and bread - warm, crispy, golden, chewy, soft, doughy bread - is the ultimate representative.
