4 WEEKS of GIVEAWAYS
week #2 [CLOSED]
In the continuing celebration of Budget Bytes reaching 10,000 RSS subscribers, I bring you Week #2 of the 4 Weeks of Giveaways!
What do I have for you this week? It's a piece of kitchen equipment that I have absolutely fallen in love with over the past two years - A SLOW COOKER!
Now, I'm not one of those people who likes to cook everything in a slow cooker. In fact, I think most things shouldn't be cooked in one, but there are a few things that it does very, very well. Anytime something requires a long, slow cooking process, the slow cooker is your pal. You can literally "set it and forget it." I love making slow cooked meats, like pulled pork or the infamous taco chicken bowls, but it's also great for beans or slow cooked sauces. Just being able to stock your freezer with freshly cooked beans instead of having to buy canned beans makes this appliance well worth it's weight in gold.
If you haven't started experimenting with a slow cooker yet, I hope this inspires you to!

This week's contest entry question is:
After having too much fun this past weekend, my throat decided to swell up to the size of a soft ball (or so it felt) and all I want is some Super Ramen Bowls. Or, if I wasn't so exhausted, I'd go get myself a bowl of pho. So, those are my two sickness soother foods, what are yours?
HOW TO ENTER:

Gingerale (<3 the ginger's soothing and medicinal bonuses), Green Tea with honey and lemon, saltines and chicken noodle soup. Pretty much standard for what mom would make my siblings and I when we were sick. She'd make us a side of veggies with mashed potatoes too sometimes. Also buttered toast with cinnamon sugar smeared on it with some eggs. Man I'm homesick, haha.

A really big sandwich is always one of my favorite choices when I'm feeling puny. Any time I get sick, it usually kills my appetite, but when it comes back, it comes back strong. A SlawBeJo sub from Capriotti's hits that spot so well and is usually big enough for happy leftovers later on.

I like spicy! When I'm under the weather it's usually respiratory. Spicy soups help me breathe better and warm up my core. I like Chinese hot & sour soup, or spicy miso. Hold the noodles or crackers - the spicy broth is 'tha stuff'!

Go to comfort foods: Japanese Chicken-Rice bowls. Beef Stew in a slow cooker. Pasta with garlic and olive oil eaten at midnight while standing at the kitchen island.

definitely mrs grass chicken noodle soup with some sprite. Or miso soup. Something about the saltiness of the soup and the carbonation of the soda makes me feel better !
