hot sauce

I'm not really sure what's happening to me... almost my whole life I feared the burn of hot sauce but, apparently, Louisiana is seeping into my bones. I am now almost a full fledged "hot sauce goes on EVERYTHING" type of person.

I posted this question on Facebook earlier this week but I'd like to know what the other 3,000 of you think.

When it comes to hot sauce, do you think:

a) Hot sauce goes on EVERYTHING...

b) Hot sauce is good but it has a time and a place...

or

c) NO THANK YOU!

If you like it, what is your favorite kind?

Also, if you're a hot sauce fiend or just want to expand your horizons, check out this article from Serious Eats: Serious Heat: 25 Things To Do With Hot Sauce.

Other news...

- More recipes are coming, I promise. School is just about done and then I have a WHOLE MONTH off to play in the kitchen and blogosphere, so watch out! I'll begin pumping out Thanksgiving recipes this weekend.

- There is a new feature in the far right hand column all the way at the bottom. It's called "I want to cook again..." because I've discovered some really scrumptious dishes over the past year and a half of blogging and I want to make sure they don't disappear into blog history. They may not be the "most visited" on the site but they are, IMHO, some of the best tasting. So check 'em out!

Hot sauce goes on dang near everything I eat. I've even got my wife, who swears she can't eat spicy food, indulging in a little bottled sunshine every now and then

Hot sauce goes on everything...we keep an average of 8 different types in our house at all times. My favorite? Sriracha (cock sauce) and Franks Red Hot, which we have recently bought a gallon of at Sams Club!

Hot sauce goes on everything. In my fridge I keep sriracha, Tabasco, Franks Red Hot (for wings anytime), and Cholula.

Hot sauce goes on all kinds of things. I have 4 kinds of Tabasco, Frank's and some Siracha depending on what I'm putting it on.

hot sauce goes with ALMOST anything :) sriracha is the best with pizza, pizza rolls, soups and burgers. i am half Hmong, so most of the dishes i eat need to have some sort of hot pepper to dip our meat in or else the meal isnt complete. i actually prefer fresh chili peppers myself, even over sriracha!

I'll put it on a lot of stuff, but not on everything...or even almost everything. I like Tobasco and Sriracha a lot. Until a few years ago, though, I wouldn't touch the stuff. I guess as I get older, I get a bit more adventurous!

I put hot sauce on everything! In fact, I'm eating Tapatio on some good ol' Kraft Macaroni and Cheese with a nice cold Corona right now!

I only like hot sauce once in a while but it depends on the hot sauce. Most hot sauces are just hot, and very little flavor, or worse yet, hot with a bad flavor (I'm lookin' at you Tobasco). Usually I find it easier to add a dried pepper to something I'm cooking.

I do however like Sriracha, and add it to ketchups and soups, but the best hot sauce I've ever had is Scorned Woman hot sauce. Mmmm mmm not too vinegar-y and with a touch of lemon and plenty of heat. Yum Yum.

I think hot sauce is great on most things. I don't always add it, unless its sitting right in front of me. I like franks red hot, Texas Pete, and Sriracha.

Hot sauce can go on anything! My best friend is Thai and introduced me to Sriracha sauce back in high school, I have never been with out it in any of my apartments! Its great on eggs, potstickers, ramen... just about anything. its sweet and spicy... just perfect! My friends mom also taught me how to make homemade hot sauce... dried red chili peppers, garlic - ground down with a mortar & pestal and ALOT of fish sauce with a dash of sugar. Its amazing. :)

Marie Sharp's hot sauce is wonderful. The lack of vinegar flavor is perfect and well balanced with the fruitiness of the habaneros.

Hot sauce on pretty much everything. But I'm like you--its a recent development, which sometimes I can't believe took me so long. I'm a big Sriracha fan, though I just took the leap and made my own, too, which is a fun (and definitely inexpensive) thing to try(NYT had an article on how to do it not too long ago). Funny enough, I read your stuff in my google reader, and this: http://www.heyokay.com/2010/the-food-pyramid/ was the next entry after yours this morning. entirely appropriate, huh?

I like hot sauce, but it definitely has a time and a place. I usually have Sriracha and Tabasco on hand, as well as an opened can of chipotle in adobo that I can take a chili out of here and there to mince and add to things. I also really like the heat of horseradish and sometimes keep a jar of that to add to certain things.

One issue we have in my household is that my boyfriend and I do not have the same tolerance for heat. He typically likes things much milder than I do. It sucks sometimes because I'd rather have my heat cooked right into foods as apposed to adding spice later, but I don't want to cook things that only I will eat. His heat tolerance has increased a little bit since we've been together, but not that much.

I'm a huge heat wuss. I do like sriracha or tabasco on eggs or potatoes or something relatively bland, but a little goes a LONG way!

I LOVE Sriracha! I do put it in everything. As a native Texan spice is (one of the) spices of life. My husband loves Dave's Insanity Sauce. We both even like chocolates with chili flecks:-)

I'm going to fully 'fess up. I rarely use hot sauce. I know, I know I'm a bad native! I'm just a wimp when it comes to heat.

For me, I put hot sauce on vegetables and pork and my favorite is Louisiana hot sauce. As a bit of a secret use, try a few shakes in a glass of cold beer. Enjoy!

While I love hot sauce, it has a time and a place. :) While growing up my brother used to sneak hot sauce into just about anything cooking on the stove, and as a result, I appreciate it when my food to tastes like food and not hot sauce!

My mum's friend makes her own brand (I don't think it's for sale any more) but that's my fav. Other than that, I'm a big fan of "rooster" sriracha sauce, or the stuff on the tables in Mexico. Yum. I'd love to learn to make my own, though..

Sriachi gets their chilies right here at UnderHill Farms which is just a few miles from my house. Delicious on almost everything, but absolutely LOVE it in Pho, which is the Vietnamese soup. Deep brothy goodness with meat, noodles, and fresh jalepenos, basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, etc. brought right to your table to mix in yourself. Add few shots of Sriracha and you've got some serious flavor burst in your mouth.

I've been making my lazy version of your sriracha chicken strips - Dunk chicken in sriracha. Bread with Panko. Pan fry/Bake. Done! It's so amazing :)

It goes on everything that doesn't have a bold flavor.
And I shake large amounts on EVERYTHING when i'm sick and can't taste my food.

Nope, not a hot sauce fan - am a total chili wimp. I think it's my grandfather's fault. He liked hot sauce on EVERYTHING and I burned my mouth one too many times as a little one.

I'm between A and B. I have phases where I want everything to be hot. But overall I'd say there's a time for hotsauce--it just comes around more frequently for me.
I like Tabasco sauce and honey as a dip for chicken strips.
