lodge cast iron GIVEAWAY
[CLOSED]
It's my 500th post and time to celebrate!!
I've gotten into the habit of giving away things that I don't have, but want, so here we go again today! Three big winners of this giveaway will receive this super cool Lodge Cast Iron dutch oven / skillet combo set! You can use the bottom as a stock pot or in the oven as a dutch oven and the lid doubles as a skillet! How cool is that?!
If you've never cooked with cast iron, it will really help you take your cooking to the next level. Because it's super thick and heavy, it heats evenly and can get really hot, which will help with browning and charring.
What else can you do with this awesome piece of cookery? You can bake no-knead bread in there to get an extra crispy crust! You could probably use the skillet part in the oven to make deep dish pizzas too. The thick iron works very similarly to a pizza stone.
So, the question you have to answer to enter the giveaway is...
I may have asked this question before, but it always gets fun answers and there are a lot of new people around these days :)

My immediate answer is diet coke. Sad, but true. One day I'll kick the habit! After some thought, I think I'll go with onions. I use them in just about everything I cook. I once berated my sister, while cooking at her house, for not having a stock of onions around. Now she makes sure she's always got some on hand.

One food that I absolutely, positively cannot live without is... eggs! As a broke college student, eggs are the easiest, most versatile food. I can make a fluffy broccoli, sausage, egg & cheese omelets for brunch, slap a fried egg on the middle of my sandwich for lunch or make a delicious frittata for dinner!
But my absolute favorite thing to do-despite how simple it is-is to place one egg over easy on top of a bowl of steamed vegetables. A couple cranks of pepper and a dash of salt makes a quick, healthy afternoon snack!

This is tough but I would say chocolate (for my sanity). I did a 6 week sugar elimination diet (added sugars so dairy and fruit were still OK) and i had to make bowls of banana oatmeal with unsweetened chocolate because I needed it...

I'm not sure where the favorite pizza topping started but the one food I couldn't live without would have to be Ritz crackers. Some women have chocolate, some have icecream...I have Ritz crackers. I haven't tried them on pizza, but maybe I will :)

A dish I can't live without.... Spinach and cheese manicotti! I make it a couple times a month. SO good.

Oh man, that's a difficult question! I think I'll have to say salad. Any type of salad. I love that it's so crazy versatile and that somehow it's become the ultimate in comfort food for me!
Also - I think this is an amazing giveaway! My grandfather always cooked in cast iron and I have so many good memories from that food! I hope that whoever wins also has a chance to form awesome food memories with theirs!!
