4 WEEKS of GIVEAWAYS
week #1 [CLOSED]

Today is a big day for Budget Bytes. No, not big, monumental. Today the number of subscribers to the Budget Bytes RSS feed officially topped 10,000 people.

I never knew the blog would go this far and it probably wouldn't have without all of you. I want to thank each and everyone one of you (RSS subscriber or not) for your feedback and support. If it wasn't for you, Budget Bytes would not still be around and it certainly would not have come this far! YOU are a wonderful community of people who have enriched my life beyond belief. Thank you!

As a thank you, I'm officially kicking off 4 Weeks of Giveaways! That's right, every Tuesday for the next four weeks I'll be introducing a new giveaway! I have chosen four items that I love or have been very helpful to me in my cooking adventures. The giveaways are open to both U.S. and international readers. All prizes have been chosen from Amazon Global for international shipping availability. If for some reason there is a shipping restriction to your location, a comparable prize will be chosen at my discretion.

Giveaway #1 - Black & Decker 8-cup Food Processor

This is not the exact food processor that I own (mine wasn't available on Amazon Global) but it has great reviews and looks to be about the same size and caliber. I didn't own a food processor until last year when my mom bought me this one for Christmas. Since then, I've been using it to make all sorts of yummy things like hummus, falafel, and pie crust! It really has expanded my culinary abilities and you don't have to spend hundreds get one that works!

I hope the lucky winner gets as much use out of this one as I have mine!

HOW TO ENTER:
  1. Leave a comment on this blog post answering "What is one food you REFUSE to eat?" and then click the green "I did this!" button in the contest widget.
  2. "Like" Budget Bytes on Facebook through the contest widget button.
  3. ...or do both!

Good Luck!

mackenzie | November 15, 2011 at 7:17 PM

girl with no name | November 15, 2011 at 7:40 PM

I refuse to eat raw tomatoes. I always have had an aversion to them (because of texture) and even now that I'm over 30 years old, I still can't make myself even try them. Sad, I know!

Carolyn Baldonado | November 15, 2011 at 7:40 PM

I tried head cheese one time. It was like cold, gelatinous spam. No, thank you!

Jennifer Nobles | November 15, 2011 at 7:42 PM

I will not, I repeat WILL NOT eat cucumbers because I think they are grody. I will also not eat veal because it makes me sad to think about those cute little baby cows.

Sara and Matt | November 15, 2011 at 7:42 PM

I refuse to eat stuffing. Growing up, my mom let us choose a "Food of Choice"- something we would never be forced to eat. We could change our FoC on our birthday. My FoC has been stuffing since I was 5. I'm 23 now and still refuse to eat it!

Christine M | November 15, 2011 at 7:47 PM

Ketchup and mustard, or condiments if it's necessary to limit it to one "food." I'm considering asking for a food processor for Christmas in anticipation of taking my cooking to the next level. Thanks for the suggestion on the brand!!

C. | November 15, 2011 at 7:48 PM

I'm a pretty adventurous eater, but I'm not sure I could stomach brain (and I'm not squeamish at all about eating organs on the whole, so I can't really explain the line... liver, tripe, haggis, pâté = yum, brain = oh heck no).

RunningLaur | November 15, 2011 at 7:48 PM

I refuse to eat fish!! I hate seafood!

The Other One | November 15, 2011 at 7:55 PM

withacapitalz | November 15, 2011 at 7:55 PM

Megan | November 15, 2011 at 7:56 PM

I refuse to eat mayonnaise. Ew!

Nobby | November 15, 2011 at 7:56 PM

I would say brussel sprouts, but I have actually had some I could stand (grilled with goat cheese and walnuts, if I remember correctly). So, hmm. I suppose I'll go with liver. Especially Fois Gras. Had it once and never want to repeat that experience. The texture and and the flavor and the bleh.

Réanne Hamel | November 15, 2011 at 8:04 PM

I refuse to eat sushi of ANY kind...it totally grosses me out LOL

Tara | November 15, 2011 at 8:05 PM

I think it's a three way tie between liver, veal, and chitterlings... I've never understood the concept of eating another animals toxin receptacle, I think the whole veal thing is plain cruel, and "chittlins" just makes me make icky noises.

Yael | November 15, 2011 at 8:05 PM

i absolutely LOATHE mushrooms. the texture throws me way off!

I refuse to eat perogies. I know it is sort of wierd considering I love dumplings and ravioli, however it harkens back to the first time that my parents cooked them for me and my brother. I was unwell that evening and had most of the dinner down, however I threw them back up. Some time later my parents re-introduced them to me and my brother, and it was the psychological trigger of "If I eat these, I'm going to get sick" which caused me to try them and per the self fufilling prophecy, I vomited them up a short time later.
